Smart Shopping

Jimmy and I did some major baby shopping this weekend.  Amelia was in need of some Fall/Winter clothes.  She has a bunch of 12 month clothing for cold weather, but our little girl is still size 6-9 months.  We got her some pants and sweaters.  Hopefully she'll grow soon so she can fit into the rest of her Fall/Winter wardrobe!

Her little brother, well, needs every kind of clothing.  This time around, we are going to be very smart shoppers.  We're only going to buy clothes from size newborn up to 3 months.  We don't know if this boy will be big or small, tall or short, or grow fast or slow.   

We made the mistake with Amelia by buying clothes for the whole year.  Because she is so small, the sizes never matched up with her actual age.  She didn't grow out of the newborn size until she was more than 3 months old!

Since, DC has four seasons, we have many cold and warm weather clothing that never fit her at the right time.   (Hence the need to buy smaller Fall/Winter clothes for her this weekend.)  We have a lot of cute outfits that still have tags on them.  If we lived in Hawaii we wouldn't have this problem, ha ha ha. 

With this little guy, our strategy will be a "buy as he grows" plan.  

In addition, we are now super picky about not just the clothing style, but the construction.  If the outfit has more than three buttons or snaps, we won't buy it!!!  Seriously. We stocked up on ZIPPER sleepers and outfits that are easy to put on and take off. 

Remember, it wasn't too long ago that we were sleep deprived and attempted to button Amelia's sleepers in the dark, in the middle of the night.  It's all about the zipper sleepers ;0)  With all the diaper changes we'll be doing for the two kiddos, it's all about speed and efficiency. 

Going through both the boy and girl sections was hard too.  Before we'd walk into the store, we'd decide who we would shop for first.  We were very disappointed in the selection for little boy clothing, but made it our mission to try to find good stuff.  Again, what's with all the sayings on shirts?  We eventually gave in and purchased a few items with sayings or random characters on them.  It's definitely harder to shop for a boy!

Besides clothes, all we really have left to purchase is more cloth diapers and a few random baby items and we're good to go!
