It's a Spring Thing

"Look mommy, we are mowing the grass!"

"I made a rainbow potty."

Poor Alex.... lonely hearts chalk for one.
(Look at Alex up in the right hand corner all by himself, ha ha.)

Week 20

The gestational diabetes diet is so tough.  I just love carbs and anything sweet!  All the Easter parties with candy, yummy food, and treats has just been a tease for me.

I'm starting to feel the baby's movements constantly now.  He/she is most active at night, right before I fall asleep.  The kicks are also string enough for Jimmy to feel.  I've had a few days where I'm just completely exhausted, so I know this little one is growing!

We plan on finding out the baby's gender next week, so I'm excited and anxious about that.  I think knowing the gender will make things feel more real!  We are also at the halfway point in the pregnancy too.

Amelia:  Mommy can't have treats, because the baby can't have sugar.  (Her interpretation of gestational diabetes.)

Alex: I want to name the baby Optimus Prime.

Like Rapunzel

Amelia:
"Mommy, can Alex and I be like Rapunzel?"

At first I was confused.  Then I figured out that they wanted to play with bare feet on the grass.  Amelia was referring to the first time Rapunzel leaves the tower and feels the grass between her toes for the first time.

Alex got in on the action with his Buzz costume

After playing outside almost all day, these kids were exhausted.  They earned what they call a "special TV party."  Popcorn, dimmed lights, and a show!

Hello Sunshine!

Wow, it was 70 degrees today and the kids spent more than five hours outside!  It was an awesome day and Amelia kept saying that she loved Spring so much.  They both cried and whined when they finally had to go inside.   I'm so looking forward to more sunny days with my little munchkins.  I love that they adore being outdoors so much.

Love these two and their hand picked outfits.
I think shades and a smile can make any outfit look amazing ;0)

Picking flowers... errrr, weeds in the backyard

At first, they were fighting over this car. I absolutely love their compromise!

Taking turns of course...

Popsicle time!

Amelia thought it was too sweet and Alex liked to watch it melt and drip onto the deck

Week 19

I finally have some of my energy back this week.  I'm feeling more like myself and it's no longer a struggle to get through the day.

My belly button popped!  Amelia is so excited about it because she has an outie belly button.  She absolutely loves it that we have the same kind of belly button now and proudly tells everyone about it.  It's adorable.  She always asks to look at it, loves poking at it, and shows me hers for comparison.

Amelia has already adjusted her family drawings to include the baby. I think it's the sweetest thing ever.

Me: Do you want to hold the baby?
Alex: No mommy, I might smash it.

Amelia:  When the baby goes to bed, we will maybe sing her Elle Goulding songs to help her sleep.

Amelia:  If the baby is a boy, then we can name it Justin Bieber.  Then the baby can be my boyfriend.  I can't wait to see my boyfriend!!

BACH Spring Fling 2015

As one of the FRG Leaders for BACH, one of my goals this year was to put together the hospital's first ever egg hunt.  We had no idea what we were in for!!

FRG key leaders

Our amazing volunteers

What I thought would be a small, casual event, turned into 100+ kids, 200+ family members, 1700+ eggs, craft stations, 100 prizes, and bunny pictures, ha ha.  Thankfully, we had an awesome volunteer team, lots of funds from successful fundraisers, and were very organized. The FRG was able to pull it off without any problems!  Phew.

Amelia:  That isn't the real Easter Bunny.  It's a person wearing a costume.  I know because the eyes have screens.

Amelia and Alex's age group hunt, 3-6 year olds

Alex was so polite and shy while he was egg hunting.  Little man only got four eggs.

Amelia was ruthless and quick, ha ha.  She filled her whole basket with eggs.  Here she is with her BFF Riley before the hunt.

Daddy helping the kiddos check their winnings... and sneaking in some candy for himself.

Team Sleep

But I don't want to take a nap......

Little man fell asleep on me while we were cuddling.  I can't remember the last time this happened *sniffle.*
This will be my mom of the year photo entry.

First Signs of Spring!

We have tried to take advantage of any sunshine and good weather that come our way.  Thankfully, mother nature finally gifted us with a few hints of Spring and we were able to get a few days of park playtime this past week!

The kids haven't been on a swing in months.  They were having so much fun, screaming, giggling, and were so proud that they knew how to swing their feet to get higher and higher.  Thank goodness the park was empty because I think they were swinging for at least 45 minutes!
