Week 38

One of my friends mentioned that Amelia will be an only child for just a few more weeks. It kind of hit me right then how much our family dynamic is going to change once Alex arrives. I honestly feel badly for Amelia. She has no idea what's going to happen and how much her life in going to change.  The transition will be a big change for everyone, but I know in my heart that Alex will bring much more love into our family.  I love being a big sister and I know Amelia (eventually) will too ;0)

I've also come to the realization that this may be my last pregnancy.  As uncomfortable and miserable as I am feeling, I'm trying to savor what could be my last experience at "creating life."  I know it sounds cheesy, but it's how I feel.  We are definitely considering having a third child, but nothing is ever for certain, so I guess we'll just wait and see.

This week we have been busy preparing our home for Alex. Everything is pretty much set up and we even have the infant car seat in the van. I'm starting to panic a little, but am very excited! I just want to hold him and can't wait to see what he looks like! More importantly, I anxiously await to see his personality develop!

It's New Year's Eve today!!  Sorry Jessica, I guess you and Alex won't have the same birthday!

Week 38
I didn't make it this far with Amelia!
OMG, I'm gigantic!  I don't really see myself from this angle :(

Her Sassy Style

I let Amelia pick out her outfit today and she went for the kitty shirt.  Notice how the kitty has a leopard print bow that somehow matches perfectly with the leopard print hat she picked out.  Oh yeah, and the kitty necklace to go with the kitty shirt... that's no coincidence either, ha ha ha.  I just love her attention to detail!

I'm pretty sure she gets her style from her Auntie Jessica and Jen ;0)

Baby Bro's Stuff

We have been busy preparing for the upcoming arrival of Alex.  Amelia and the cats has been enjoying reuniting with all the old baby stuff.  Amelia has been climbing all over the Bumbo, swing, bouncy, and her new favorite... the infant car seat!

Relaxing in her old, now Alex's, bouncy.
She also found her baby sippy cup when we were getting out the baby stuff.

We put it up in our room since Alex will be sleeping with us for a few months.

All the cats have been sleeping on my suitcase, which is all packed and ready for the hospital.  Rudy is enjoying it right now ;0)  I had to cover it with a blanket because they kept getting hair all over it and clawing on the fabric.

Amelia's Bumbo was originally pink, but I found a cute grey cover to make it more "boy" friendly ;0)

She still fits!!
Not too sure why she looks so sad... maybe she's realizing that she's no longer going to be the baby!

Lucy (Snout) is also getting in on the action...

Christmas Eve & Morning

Christmas Eve

We stayed in for Christmas Eve this year. It was mostly due to the fact I'm feeling very uncomfortable with only a few weeks left until Alex arrives. I actually slept and relaxed most of the day, while Jimmy and Amelia played around the house. Thanks Jimmy!!!

Our tradition has been to eat Chinese food and sushi for dinner on Christmas Eve (must be the Jewish in us, ha ha ha). We ordered take out, watched football, and had a quiet evening at home.  Since Amelia's birth, we've started another Christmas Eve tradition. Jimmy reads Amelia The Night Before Christmas before bed.

Christmas Morning

Amelia had a blast opening all her gifts this year!  It took several hours and two sessions because it took her several minutes to open each gift... and then she had to play with it for a while.  Then, she needed to take a nap and resumed gift opening once she woke up.

"Santa" (Jimmy and I) just got her two big gifts this year.  We got her a child sized chair and a felt board.  We got both ideas from our many trips to the library.  It would have been easy for us to go all-out but we don't want to spoil her and we knew she would get plenty of gifts from our family and friends.  Thank you everyone for making Amelia's Christmas so special!

Girly Fun!

Jimmy and I love love love having a little girl in the house!  We are also excited to find out what fun things our baby boy will bring to the mix!  Having a boy and girl is going to be so much fun... it will be the best of both worlds ;0)

Amelia climbed into the bucket of infant toys and tried to use Alex's ring toy as a necklace.  She thinks everything is a necklace of bracelet these days!

She's styling today...
Big Sister shirt, pink tutu, bubblegum pink cloth diaper, and argyle baby legs (thanks Auntie Jen!!).  Can you guess who dressed her today?  Jimmy did!

Playing with her "pree-dees"

Trying on shades
These are too big and upside down!

These are just right... and pink leopard print.  Just her style!

She's combing her pillow pet's fur.
Thanks Auntie Jessica!

Friday Fun at Home

We are trying to enjoy our last few weekends as a family of three.  Jimmy has several long weekends until the birth of baby Alex, so we have been spending a lot of time at home, relaxing and spending quality time with our little Amelia.

 Daddy and Mimi taking self-portraits...
I love these guys!

Amelia had so many gifts under the tree this year.  We decided to let her open one gift a night for the past few nights.  We hoped this would prepare her for the big day and also to avoid overwhelming her with too many toys on Christmas day.

Our plan was perfect... especially because it took her about 10 minutes to open one gift.  (We tried not to help her.)  She really understood the concept of unwrapping the gift to reveal something new and fun.

The first night, she got a new puzzle and was so excited when it was unveiled.  She was smiling, giggling, and babbling.  She was so eager to start playing with it.  However, she had a tantrum because Jimmy had to take it away for a minute to put batteries in it.  Can we say, DIVA?

Practicing the concept of being "gentle" with Olivia.

Telling Daddy he has a phone call.

Where's Daddy's mouth?

Calling her peeps...

Deciding she wants to play with her basket of balls.

"Mimi, put the ball on your head."
She is following directions well!
