Halloween Fun: Four Down...

Three to go!!

We have been-busy-busy-busy this week with what seems to be never ending Halloween activities for Amelia!

We went to a birthday-Halloween party on Sunday, Tiny Tots Halloween activities at the community center on Tuesday, a Halloween play date/party on Wednesday, and the WAM all member Halloween party was last night.

Coming up is another WAM playgroup party today! On Sunday, we plan on taking Amelia to go trick-or-treating at the mall with friends and then on Monday, Halloween, we are going to the Fall Festival at Walter Reed.  On Halloween night we might just hit up a few houses of our friends.

Amelia is definitely getting use out of her kitty costume.  We've been busy, but she loves to run around, play with her friends, and wear her costume!  She is such a happy, active, and social baby/

Week 29

I have been feeling well during the day.  However, once the evening comes around, I feel so sore and tired. My back is starting to ache too. Sleeping just gets more and more uncomfortable and to make things worse, I have to get up in the middle of the night several times to pee.  I'm also finding myself afraid of the dark... Jimmy was nice enough to put a night light in the bathroom for me so Bloody Mary wouldn't get me at night ;0)

Baby Alex is definitely on a schedule. He wakes up every morning around 6am to kick and punch me awake!  Amelia usually doesn't wake up until 7:15, so I just lay in bed and try to relax.  It's impossible to go back to sleep.  He's active after meal times and then I think he takes a karate class in the evening!  From the time after dinner to we go to bed, he is all over the place.

Our new van, Homer, has definitely made it easier to get Amelia and her stroller in and out of the car.  I never thought I would be so excited to drive a mini van.

I had a prenatal appointment this week and everything has been going okay.  His head is down and his bottom in on the left side of my belly.  I am measuring small (27 weeks) and I've almost gained 20 pounds.  I have to take my second gestational diabetes test next week.  I am just hoping and praying that I pass again, *fingers crossed.* 

They also want to do a second ultrasound on me sometime in the next two weeks.  They said it was precautionary, to make sure the baby is growing okay.  My doctor is worried because Amelia was so little, 5.5 pounds, when she was born at full term.  I don't mind because I want to make sure everything is going well and I think it will be cool to see Alex again.

I talked to a mid-wife about the possible potential for me to do a VBAC.  However, based on my previous delivery, complications, and the short length of time between Amelia and Alex, she said a scheduled c-section would be my best option.  I labored for 27 hours with Amelia and was stuck at 7 cm for about 14 hours.  Even though I had a c-section, she still had a "cone head" which means she was descending, but just couldn't make it though.  I guess my body is too little... even for a tiny little 5.5 pound Amelia.  They say typically that subsequent children tend to be larger too.

Meet Homer!

Well, I like to call him "Homie," but he's our new car... or should I say *gasp* mini van!  Since we only have one car (I don't count Jimmy's '69 Chevelle as a car since we hardly drive it; it's in storage) we knew that with another baby on the way we needed to purchase another.  The real issue was that the two car seats barely fit in Milton, my small Acura TSX.

We had been struggling with the choice of buying a Suburban or mini van since we decided we wanted to start a family.  Just last year, we were set on buying a Suburban.  However, after talking to many families who've owned one or the other, all ultimately have said that the mini van was more practical and better for a family with small children. 

We decided that once our kids are out of car seats and can get themselves in and out of the car, then we'll get rid of the van and get the Suburban.  Until then, we are proud owners of a mini van!  It's a 2008, dark gray, Honda Odyssey, with gray interior.  It has leather seats and a DVD player... absolute must haves for the kiddos!  We've only had it for a few days, but WOW, there is so much room in there!  Going from a small car to a mini van is a big shock!

Pumpkin Carving

Amelia was just two months last Halloween, so she really couldn't help out with the pumpkin. Last year, I painted our pumpkin to look like an elephant.  She was really into elephants and still is, but this year we went with her other favorite animal and first word, a cat. 

I really wanted to paint our pumpkin again this year, but Jimmy insisted that we carve a pumpkin.  He wanted Amelia to be more involved in the process and hoped she would play with the pumpkin guts.

We kept her pumpkin on the floor of the playroom for the past week.  She enjoyed using the pumpkin as a drum, giving it hugs, throwing things at it, and trying to balance puzzle pieces on it.  One of the cutest things she tries to do with it is to try, unsuccessfully, to pick it up.  She absolutely loved her pumpkin. 

Well, when Jimmy started cutting up and carving her pumpkin, she cried and got really sad.  I really think she got attached to it.  We were so surprised at her reaction and felt so badly for her.  We tried to distract her with the pumpkin guts and she eventually felt better and got into the carving process.
