"Night Time" Bowling

The MEDDAC Family Readiness Group (FRG) hosted a family bowling night.  A bunch of people from the lab were going, so we thought it would be fun.  Free bowling and free food, woo hoo! 

 

Amelia called it "night time" bowling because  all the lights were turned off.  There were black lights, disco balls, and flashing lights in the private bowling area.  She frequently walked back and forth from the regular, lighted bowling alley to our dark, private room and said "night time."  She would then shield her eyes from the bright lights and walk into the lighted area and say "light."

 

Amelia was apprehensive and had to be coerced into rolling the ball down the roller bar, but after her second turn, so was hooked!  She played two full games and got three spares.  After a while she even started saying "hit the whites" and got disappointed when she missed.

 

He favorite part was choosing which color ball she wanted for each turn.  After each roll, our group was nice enough to clap and cheer her on.  She loved the attention and was all smiles and giggled with delight.  She also gave us high-fives and fist bumps after her turn was over.  It was super cute! 

 

We were surprised at how much fun she had!  Who would have thought that bowling would be fun for a two year old? 

 

Alex crawled around everywhere and cruised all over the furniture.  He really enjoyed all the lights, sounds, and new faces.  He was also getting a lot of attention and was acting like a little ham ;0)  We had a great night!

Gymnastics Update

Amelia has been in her new gymnastics class for two months and has really blossomed!  At first, she was fragile, awkward, and had trouble taking direction from the teacher.  As expected, it took very little time for Amelia to gain confidence and grow into a obidient student and good listener. 

I don't want to toot my own horn (but what the heck!), I'd say that Amelia is probably the most well behaved child in her class.  She's one of the youngest too, so Jimmy and I are super proud of her.

Not only is she a shinning student, she absolutely loves her class.  She is all smiles and giggles the entire time.  Parents and teachers have even noticed how happy she is.  She is always amped up and hyper during and after class.  We are so delighted that she enjoys it so much.

Jimmy meets us from work, so we wait for him in the parking lot. 

As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, she said "Gymnastics!"

Manic Monday

Mondays are busy a day for our family.  Right after breakfast, the kids and I go to the library for family story time.  Amelia's favorite part of story time is the songs and finger plays.  She's getting to the age where she can sing, dance, and follow a long and it's so cute! 

 

At the library, we always visit Grandma Louise.  She is a retired woman who does crafts/art projects with the kids.  Amelia really enjoys arts and crafts and Grandma Louise is very creative.  I'm not very crafty, so I'm glad Amelia can do different art projects other than what little we do at home. 

 

The library also has a large play area with toys and, of course, books, so we usually hang out there to play and read.  We stay at the library all morning!  It's such a great place... even better than the one we used to go to in DC. 

 

By the time we leave, it's already lunchtime.  Alex usually falls asleep in the car on the way home, so Amelia and I have a little tradition of stopping by Sonic to get ice cream.  We order and eat in the van while Alex sleeps.  I crawl to the back and sit with Amelia and we feed each other ice cream ;0)

 

Once we get home, we do lunch and afternoon naps.  Jimmy gets off work a little early and we meet up with him at Fort Campbell and he takes Amelia to gymnastics.  Alex and I usually stay to watch.  I like to bring him down to the mat area so he can crawl and play too. 

 

Once gymnastics is over, we head home for Lehman Pizza Night.  Not only does Amelia get to eat pizza and chocolate milk, we all eat in the living room and watch Sesame Street.  Amelia absolutely loves it.  TV and pizza, what more could a toddler want?

 

Mondays are busy, but it's a great way to start off the week!

The kids are allowed to go up front with the librarian, but Amelia likes to stay with me.

She says the same thing every week:

"Money, I found Mickey Mouse.  Look at that!  He's up high.  Can I hug him?  I want to hug him.  Bring him down please."
