All Over the Place

Amelia is constantly on the go and is into everything!  She is most happy when she is getting into trouble.

Knocking over my German sewing box

Really happy about her accomplishment

On the move

She couldn't stop smiling.  She was going for the cat!

Pulled up onto her toy box and slapping the top

Again, super happy about her accomplishment

Her Favorite Book

How Do I Love You? is one of Amelia's favorite books.  I love watching her play independently and flip through the pages as if she were actually reading the book.  She has the cutest look of concentration.  She stares intently at the pages, sucks her bottom lip, and has little wrinkles on her nose.

Pigtails... FINALLY!

"Mommy, what is happening on my head?"

"I finally have enough hair for a comb!"

Check out Amelia's fangs!

Vampire Baby...
She's definitely going through an awkward mouth/teeth phase ;0)

Bee Cuddles

We have friends that live 6 blocks away.  We had dinner at their house the other night and Amelia was so tuckered out, that she fell asleep during the short drive home.  We love love love how she cuddles with her toys when she falls asleep.

Sumo Baby

Amelia's hair is finally getting longer (kind of).  Here's my attempt at doing her hair.  She ended up looking like a sumo wrestler, ha ha ha.

Kisses

We've been trying to teach Amelia how to give kisses.  As of now, she pretty much just head butts you and tries to lick your face, ha ha ha.

I kept saying "kisses for the hippo"

How to kiss like Amelia

Step 1: Head Butt

 Step 2: Face Lick

Loving DC

At first, I didn't know how I felt about living in DC.  However, over the past year I have grown to love this city!  There is so much to see and do and we have met so many awesome new friends.  Now that Amelia is part of our family, we so appreciate all the fun family activities, programs, and things to do in the city!  I can't imagine raising a baby any where else.

Now that the weather is more mild, Amelia and I have been venturing outside our neighborhood and taking the Metro to different parts of the city.  We took the train to Silver Spring to check out their story time, have brunch, and then go for a walk downtown.  Much to our surprise, while we were walking downtown, we ran into an Ethiopian Children's Festival!  It was a Wednesday morning, so I thought it was really random, but we stopped to check things out.  It was an amazing day and made me truly appreciate all that this area has to offer!

Amelia waiting for the train with my Metro card.  When we saw the wet floor sign, I kept saying "AH-OH" and she would pretend she was falling down.  It was really funny!

Failed Tutu Photo Attempt

Amelia received a new tutu outfit as a gift.  She looked super cute, so I tried to take some pictures.  It did not go well.

This is the best picture I was able to take!

Not cooperative

It flicked her right back on her head and she giggled!

She was having more fun playing with her hair bow

Double whammy... a book and hair bow to play with.  She was obviously excited.

Every time I would say "smile" she would smile like this!

Total Pokemon smile.  I love it.

Assisted Walking-Wheelbarrow-Forward Roll

Amelia finished the Spring session of the "Baby Bugs" program at The Little Gym.  Her little ribbon says "I'm a Star at The Little Gym."  She will start the summer session in two weeks!

Father's Day

Who knew that the 14year-old boy I fell in love with in high school, would turn out to be such a loving and devoted father?  Amelia is the luckiest girl in the world!  (Oh yeah, and me too!)  Happy Father's Day Sir!

The day Jimmy became a father...

Jimmy had his first official Father's Day this year!  Jimmy celebrated by sleeping-in and Amelia and I made him breakfast in bed.  I'm usually really good at making pancakes (they are kind of my speciality), but I was having trouble with our new skillet and kept burning them!  Thankfully, I was able to make a few good ones before I ran out of batter.  Oh yeah, Jimmy's breakfast also included a nice, cold bottle of Coke, ha ha ha.

Our plan for lunch was to get some burgers at Jimmy's favorite burger place, but when we arrived, they had gone out of business!  It was really sad and we felt bad for the owner because we had met him and thought he was a cool guy.  We just ended up going to Five Guys for burgers.  After lunch we went shopping for Amelia and Jimmy picked out a new toy for her.

Afterwards, we just relaxed and spent the rest of the day at home.  We had some Thai food from our favorite restaurant delivered and once Amelia went to bed, we caught up on several episodes of Game of Thrones.  We had a nice, relaxing day!

Happiness at Home

Well, it's been about two months since I've officially been a stay-at-home-mom.  It's surprisingly been an easy transition.  I thought I would be super depressed from leaving my job and the workforce, but I'm not!  Even though I only worked part-time, the extra two days at home and complete removal of the work stress, has made a huge, positive difference.

However, here are the things I miss most about working:

Work friends
Using my brain and feeling smart, ha ha ha
Getting dressed up
Wearing my hair down
Work gossip and drama!!
Lunch with coworkers
New office supplies
Work related conversations

I love it that I can focus all my time and energy on our family.  However, at times, it can be very exhausting and difficult to take care of Amelia- especially when she's having a bad day.  Sometimes, when she's really crabby, I desperately count the hours and minutes until Jimmy gets home!  It's totally worth it though and in the end, I'm happy, Jimmy is happy and most importantly, Amelia is happy.

I am so amazed at how fast she is growing.  People always talk about how babies grow so fast, but until you actually experience it for yourself, you don't really know what they mean.  She is so curious and it's incredible to see her experience things for the first time.  Now that she's mobile, she wants explore and gets into whatever she can.

I am so enjoying this new phase in my life!

Snaggle Tooth

Okay, so Amelia's "fangs" are coming in... it looks so funny!  Since one fang sticks out more than the other, we've been calling her snaggle tooth.  She can even make a snaggle tooth look cute ;0)

We also love it when she smiles really big because she looks like a Pokemon, ha ha ha.
