Fort Campbell Here We Come!

It's officially official, we will be moving to Fort Campbell, Kentucky the first week of May!  We've known about our upcoming move for a few months now, but it definitely feels more real now that we have orders in hand.

Although we can live on post (in the base) rent free, we've opted to live out in the economy.  Since we will live off post, we get what's called BAH, which is a monthly housing allowance that will cover our rent and utilities.

Fortunately, we already have a house picked out and ready for us to rent.  Unfortunately, we have a house because our besties, the Schkerke family, will be moving just as we arrive :(  We are moving into their house, just as they move out.  They have been stationed at Fort Campbell, but are PCSing to Florida.  We are totally bummed!

We were stationed at Fort Sam Houston (BAMC), Texas with the Schkerke's several years ago and have remained close friends ever since.  Chris was Jimmy's mentor when he first joined the Army and is a big reason Jimmy decided to make a career out of the military.

We will be living in Clarksville, Tennessee.  It's about 45 minutes from Nashville.  I bet you're wondering why we're living in Tennessee when Fort Campbell is in Kentucky.  Well, Fort Campbell is actually located on the boarder of Kentucky and Tennessee.  Clarksville is actually only a few miles from the post.  This has been confusing lots of people when I explain it.

We are so excited to have a house!  It's just a little bit bigger square footage wise than our apartment, but having a yard, an extra bedroom and bonus room, large deck, and two car garage is going to make a huge difference.  I know it will feel like a mansion compared to our shoebox of an apartment.  We are so excited!

There is also a possibility that two of our friends, one living here (The Grose Family) and the other in Germany (The Vasquez Family), may also move to Campbell this year, so we have our fingers crossed that we will hopefully see them soon!

Jimmy will manage the medical laboratory at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Fort Campbell Kentucky

Fort Campbell was our first duty station together!! : ) We also lived on the TN side in a house we now rent out to a very sweet aviation family (off of Exit one)! Enjoy Campbell!!
