Closet Freak

Okay, so we went from 9 large closets and 2 outdoor storage spaces at our old house, to 3 closets in our DC apartment.  It was tough, but we managed to make it work!

Here are some closet highlights:

Our DC apartment... so far

We downsized before we left and then we had to downsize again when we got here!  It was definitely a challenge at first, but the apartment is finally starting to feel like home.  Jimmy and I love our new place ;0)

Things I like about the apartment:

#1 You can take a shower for more than 5 minutes without running out of hot water

#2 Carpet!!!!

#3 Covered parking

#4 Everything is clean, fresh, and new (our old house was 90 years old)

#5 Fireplace

#6 2 Large bathrooms

Things I DON'T like:

#1 All the fixtures are modern looking (as you can see, our style is more traditional/country)

#2 Only 3 closets :(

#3 Small

#4 Black and white tiles in the kitchen/front entryway area

Christmas '09

Lights on Christmas Eve

Jimmy had this great idea that we would go look at Christmas lights on Christmas Eve.  He found a place at a state park that you drive through to look at the light displays.  It was called the Winter Lights at Seneca Creek State Park.  It was really cool.  You can't tell from the pictures, but the light displays were huge and they moved!  It also took us almost an hour to drive through the whole display. 

Our Christmas Tree

This year, Christmas was very different for us.  Having just moved to DC a week before Christmas, we didn't really have time to put up our Christmas tree and decorate the house.  It was too depressing without the holiday decor, so I decided to pull out some ornaments and the tree skirt and decorate our plant.  I thought it turned out cute and it was the perfect place to put our gifts.

Since we didn't have a tree this year, Jimmy was nice enough to take me to the National Christmas Tree in front of the White House.  It was really neat, especially since there was tons of snow in the National Mall area and it was beautiful, cold, but beautiful.

I was COLD!

The snow was very pretty.  Here's a view of the Lincoln Memorial from the Washington Monument.

DC Bilzzard & Ham

Only our second weekend in DC and the worst blizzard since 1920 hits the area!  We got about 22 inches of snow.  You would think that we would be smart enough to stay indoors, but not the Lehmans!  Jimmy insisted that we go to a ham speciality store and pick up our Christmas ham.  I suggested that we pick it up after the blizzard was over, but Jimmy said that it was no big deal and that he knew how to drive in the snow.  We bundled up and made the 5 mile drive to the Honey Ham store.  It took about 45 minutes and we had a few close calls and almost got stuck, but we made it.  However, the store was closed (as were most businesses that day).  Nonetheless, we had a great adventure.  We ended up picking up the ham the next day and Jimmy was right, it was the best ham I ever had ;0)

7 years = 7 moves

Jimmy and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary yesterday!  It's amazing to think that we have moved 7 times in 7 years.

2. Spokane to San Antonio, TX
3. San Antonio to a bigger apartment in San Antonio
4. San Antonio apartment to house in Converse, TX
5. Converse to Chester, VA
6. Chester to Fort Lee, VA
7. Fort Lee to DC

YIKES!

This year our lives have once again been turned upside down since moving to DC last Friday.  We usually try to do something fun instead of exchanging gifts for special occasions.  To celebrate our anniversary this year, we decided to celebrate (next weekend) by visiting the National Christmas Tree at the White House and go ice skating.  I'm really excited!
