Where's the Beach?

We've been busy planning our annual summer beach vacation!  We rented a beach house in the Outer Banks in North Carolina for one week.  We're super excited to take Amelia on her first real vacation.  I've been making her wear her sun hat during playtime at the house, so she gets used to it.

Moving up to 16th!

In 2009 I had posted a blog about how Forbes named Whitman the 20th best college in the US.  Well, this year, Whitman is ranked 16th...whooo hooo!  We're movin' on up!

Slap Happy

Amelia's new favorite thing is slapping her Bumbo tray... the pictures don't do justice as to how freaking happy she was!

You can tell she's super happy because she's doing her "open my mouth as wide as I can" smile

Cutest smile

Sooooooo excited...

I love her open mouth smile so much!

It looks like she's singing

Fun is over; she busted out!

The Luck of the Lehman Strikes Again!

I went to a Walter Reed Auxiliary (Spouses Club) wine tasting event last night.  Jimmy was nice enough to stay home and watch Amelia so I could go out.  Since I'm still breastfeeding, I only had one glass of champange and a small taste of wine, but I'm not much of a drinker anyway.

I was super nervous becasue it was my first spouse club event, and if you're familiar with the dynamics of military wives, I felt like I was walking into a lion's den, ha ha ha.  Thankfully, I went with two other members I already knew, so it wasn't so bad.  I met a lot of cool people.

I was heavily involved with the spouses club at Fort Lee, so I wanted to get back into it here at Walter Reed.  Since we don't live on post, this is also a good way for me to meet other military spouses.  I was immediately recruited to be on the Board of Directors because of my experience at Fort Lee and I think I'm going to take them up on their offer.

ANYWAYS, the best part of the evening was that there were 16 raffle prizes and I won three of them!  In addition, I won a door prize!  The best part about it, is that I only spent $10 on raffle tickets and won over $1,000 worth of prizes!!!!  Here's the stuff I won:

Door Prize:
1 free night at a Rehoboth Beach Hotel

Raffle Prizes:
1. $75 gift card for Eat Well DC & a gift basket of cooking spices
2. 1 free night at a Bethesda hotel, 2 ticktes to a show at GW Lisner, and dinner for 2 at 14K Restaurant & Lounge
3. 2 nights at Mountian Lake Resort, meals included... Mountain Lake is where they filmed Dirty Dancing! http://www.mountainlakehotel.com/

OMG, I'm so excited ;0)

Playing with food

"I don't like food that's too carefully arranged; it makes me think that the chef is spending too much time arranging and not enough time cooking. If I wanted a picture I'd buy a painting." ~Andy Rooney

WTF?

Making a mess

Looking at her daddy

Nerd face

Let's add a spoon to the fun!

"Look, I'm feeding myself!"

"Baby-sitting"

She's still obsessed with her toes.  As you can see, she is very flexible.

Yay, Amelia can sit up...
for about 15-20 seconds until she topples over.

Ball, no.  Elephante, no
Tag on the blanket, YES!

Such a cute profile

Updating her Facebook status...
"I sat up today."

Give Peas a Chance

Amelia has been eating cereal and oatmeal for a few weeks.  It was time to move on to REAL food.  She had a choice between carrots, sweet potatoes, and peas.  We set out the three different jars of food and then had her "choose" her first food. She went for the peas!

First taste... not loving it so much

After a few bites, she seemed to be getting a taste for it

Peas, love, and happiness

Daddy's Boots

Jimmy left his boots out in the office and Amelia found a new toy!

Exersaucer

Jimmy and I got Amelia an Exersaucer for Christmas, but sadly, she has been too small to sit in it.  She is still too small, but we've been stuffing the seat with baby blankets to get her to fit, ha ha ha.  Amelia loves it!

She likes to "nurse" on the dragonfly.

Saying "hi" to the koala bear

Having a staring contest with the koala.

Eskimo kisses with her "elephante."
